- ChatGPT connects to Salesforce through any Salesforce MCP server, using the ChatGPT app catalog in the desktop app.
- You’ll need a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan, the ChatGPT desktop app (not the browser), a Salesforce MCP server, and Salesforce System Administrator access.
- These steps work with any Salesforce MCP server. Cirra AI is used for the screenshots below and covered in detail at the end.
What You Need
- A ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan. MCP support requires a paid plan.
- The ChatGPT desktop app, available for macOS and Windows. The browser version of ChatGPT does not support MCP servers. This is the single most common source of setup confusion.
- A Salesforce MCP server and the details it gives you for the ChatGPT app catalog.
- Salesforce System Administrator access, or a user with the specific permissions you want ChatGPT to operate under.
Connect ChatGPT to a Salesforce MCP Server
Open the ChatGPT desktop app. Not the browser — the desktop app.
Go to chatgpt.com/apps, or open the desktop app and navigate to Settings → Apps → Browse apps.
Search for your Salesforce MCP server and select it from the app catalog.
Click Connect, sign in to the server if prompted, and complete the Salesforce authorization flow.
Click Allow Access to finish connecting.
Start a new conversation and describe a Salesforce task to confirm the connection is live.
Verify the Connection
Ask ChatGPT something specific to your org, such as “What custom objects exist in my Salesforce org?” If it returns your org’s actual custom objects, the connection is working. If it gives a generic answer about Salesforce object types in general, the MCP connection did not initialise. The most likely cause is using the browser instead of the desktop app.
Troubleshooting
ChatGPT Salesforce integration doesn’t work at all. Confirm you’re using the desktop app, not the browser. The browser does not currently support MCP server connections.
Server doesn’t appear in the app catalog. Confirm you have a Plus or Pro plan, and that you’re searching from Settings → Apps → Browse apps rather than a different menu.
Authorization fails during setup. Confirm you’re authorizing with a Salesforce user that has the permissions the connector needs.

Using Cirra AI as Your Salesforce MCP Server
Cirra AI is the Salesforce MCP server used in the screenshots above. Unlike Salesforce’s own hosted MCP server, the Cirra AI Salesforce Admin MCP Server writes to the metadata layer directly in conversation: creating objects and fields, building Flows, and managing permission sets and page layouts.
Cirra AI is built with governance in mind: every change made through ChatGPT is scoped to the permissions of the authorizing Salesforce user, and actions are logged for review, so admins retain visibility and control over what gets changed in their org. Cirra AI also supports connecting multiple Salesforce orgs, letting teams manage sandboxes, production, and separate business units from a single ChatGPT connection.
A free plan is available with no credit card required. Connecting your first org takes under 10 minutes.
